Two Hampshire Schools Reopen: A Look at the Building Issues and How They Were Resolved (2026)

Two Hampshire schools that were closed today are set to reopen to pupils on Tuesday. Both Heathfield Special School in Fareham and Gosport had to close due to serious building issues, with an emergency maintenance problem discovered. Engineers were called in to resolve the issue, and the schools confirmed they were ready to welcome students back for a full day of learning on Tuesday. Calmore Infant School in the New Forest was also affected by a total heating failure, leaving classrooms without warmth. Engineers worked on site to restore the system, allowing the school to open later than normal on Monday at 10am while temperatures were brought back to safe levels. Both schools say the repairs have now been completed and normal service will resume from Tuesday morning. Parents and carers have been thanked for their patience and understanding during the disruption.
