Health Alert: Urgent Recall of Contaminated Health Supplement and Choking Hazard Sweets
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has issued an urgent recall for a health supplement and children's sweets due to serious health concerns.
Health Supplement Recall:
A specific batch of Rosabella Moringa supplement tablets, available online, has been recalled in Ireland and globally. The issue is the presence of Salmonella, a harmful infectious bacteria, which can cause severe illness. Symptoms of Salmonella infection include diarrhea, fever, headache, and abdominal cramps. These symptoms typically appear between 12 and 36 hours after infection but can occur within a broader range of 6 to 72 hours.
The FSAI advises that the illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days. Severe diarrhea may require hospitalization, and individuals with weakened immune systems, the elderly, and infants are more susceptible to severe illness. The affected batches are packaged in white plastic bottles, with the batch code located at the bottom, consisting of the middle seven digits of the code printed above the expiry date. The best-before dates for these batches range from March 2027 to November 2027.
Children's Sweets Recall:
A batch of Hello Kitty Apple Jelly Strips, a popular children's treat, has also been recalled. These sweets, originating from China and sold in some Asian stores, pose a choking hazard and could be dangerous for consumers. Recall notices will be displayed at the point of sale, and the public is strongly advised not to consume them.
The FSAI's swift action ensures consumer safety, but it highlights the importance of vigilance in the food supply chain. This recall serves as a reminder to always check product packaging and best-before dates to prevent potential health risks.
